The results of webinar on the recalculation of grades from foreign evaluation systems

On August 04, 2023 a webinar dedicated to the recalculation of the study results obtained in foreign schools into Ukrainian evaluation system took place in cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and ENIC Ukraine. 153 representatives of the Departments of Education and Educational Administrations from 20 regions of our country participated in the event.
Andrii Stashkiv, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine addressed the participants of the seminar with a foreword. He noted: “The webinar was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for you to learn the possibility of recognition of the study results by our Centre as well as to get practical guidance regarding independent recognition of the study results and therefore to simplify the comeback of our pupils from abroad”.
“Today we are concerned about how to act when Ukrainian children will come back to Ukraine, what to do and how to understand the documents they will obtain outside the country. We are expecting that many schoolchildren, who were forced to go abroad because of military actions, will return to the Motherland. We would like this process to be as easy as possible for them. That is why we want to support you and share our experience”, - emphasized Viktoriya Sergiyenko, the Director of the Centre ENIC Ukraine.
During the webinar the specialists of the Centre ENIC Ukraine paid special attention to the problematic issues while admitting the pupils in the educational institutions of Ukraine on the basis of foreign document on education, told about general principles of the recalculation of school grades, introduced to the audience the grading scales of different countries, shared the experience in recalculation of the grades from the evaluation system of such countries as Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Great Britain and Czech Republic.
